Under that program, through December 31, 2009, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account, including IOLTA’s and IOLA’s. Additionally, NOW accounts earning an Annual Percentage Yield (APY) of .50% or less are also fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account as long as the APY never goes over .50% until the Program ends on Dec. 31, 2009. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC’s general deposit insurance rules.
